Overview

Cultivating Self is designed for nurses, medical doctors and other healthcare professionals seeking to build a proficient practice of self-care to enrich their quality of life. This one day program provides time-tested techniques and tools that can help manage emotions, reduce stress, anxiety, exhaustion, and compassion fatigue and enhance physical, mental, spiritual and social well-being.

Who Should Attend

The experience is designed for nurses, physicians, physicians in training (medical students, residents, fellows), osteopath practitioners, allied healthcare professionals and complementary and alternative medicine practitioners.

Objectives

​

A. Gain a deeper understanding and practical insight into the knowledge of:

​

  • The science of meditation and its physiological effects - connection between body, mind, breath and self 
     

  • The basics of Yoga philosophy and the physiological benefits of easy, gentle yoga postures
     

  • Experience integrative healing modalities such as: Massage, Craniosacral Therapy, Acupuncture, Reiki, Acupressure, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and more (rotating practitioners)

  • Develop skills to improve neuroplasticity and apply positive psychology to the workplace and at home
     

  • The science of breath and how to use it as a tool to increase energy and reduce stress
     

  • Experience the healing power of a Sound Bath - resulting in a deactivation of the sympathetic nervous system 
     

  • Practice a form of art as therapy in a group setting
     

  • Group Circling to improve emotional intelligence and offer practical solutions to prevent and overcome healthcare provider burnout
     

  • IV Skills lab and introduction to vascular access with ultrasound

 

B. Gain mastery over these practices through interactive and fun exercises
